Expert Answers about K-Z Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension

  • Will Timbren Silent Ride or Roadmaster Comfort Ride Provide Smoother Ride on 2014 Palomino Puma
  • The Roadmaster Comfort RIde Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks is going to give you the better ride between the two and is the best option available. The Silent Ride is a nice upgrade but it is not as comprehensive as the Roadmaster. It also doesn't have the same limited lifetime warranty that comes with the Comfort Ride. Neither of these are designed to lift your trailer. If you have an underslung axle (leaf springs running under the axle) you can flip the axle using # K71-384-00 (2-3/8"...

  • Will The RAS Suspension Enhancement System Work On A 2019 Toyota Tundra With Icon Leaf Springs
  • Hi Tim, Yes, the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS34FR would still work with your Icon aftermarket leaf springs. This system simply clamps to the leaf spring stack at the center and the opposite side eyelet to act as an extra leaf spring on the stack and provide more support for heavy loads.

  • Best Way to Improve Suspension Quality on 2017 Grand Design Reflection 29RS
  • Hey Tom, so going with a different leaf spring that has a different amount of leaves will not change the bouncing you mentioned. The best way to stop that would be to add shocks to the suspension which will slow down the up and down movement. Now with that said the absolute best solution would be the Roadmaster Comfort Ride system part # RM-2460-2560. This replaces the entire suspension setup and will give the trailer essentially vehicle suspension that will be much smoother and won't...

  • Replacement Suspension Components for 1970's Tandem Axle Horse Trailer
  • We do have replacement parts for your trailer. Starting with the equalizer we have the # TREQR89. It sounds like you have 3-1/8" shackle straps so I recommend the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit # MR76ZR. This comes with wet bolts, bronze bushings, and 1/2" thick shackle straps. I believe you're talking about hangers when you gave those shackle dimensions. The closest we have to your front and rear are the # 115918 which are 2-3/8" tall. The closest thing we have to 6-3/4" is the 5-7/16"...

  • Suspension Issues On A 2012 Prime Time Crusader
  • Hello Will, interesting question. It sounds like the suspension components you are using are not sized correctly. I suspect either the leaf springs, shackles or equalizer may be too long. When replacing suspension components like leaf springs, equalizers and shackles, the replacement parts must be identical in size to the stock components. There is a small amount of tolerance there but not much. Usually when we see suspension all out of wack like this it is due to incorrectly sized components....

  • Replacement Leaf Springs for 7k Axles
  • Those look pretty worn out so I would replace them. The one leaf definitely should not be misaligned with the rest of the stack. I can't tell if the front are in the photos or not. Personally I would replace all four but at a minimum you need to replace in pairs so that would be the two rear leaf springs. Since your flat measurement is 26-1/2" you can use the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles # e64SR as a replacement. The same measurement on these leaf springs is 26-3/8"...

  • Will The RoadActive Suspension Enhancement Fit A 2019 GMC Sierra With 12" Cognito Lift Kit
  • Hi John, From what I can see on the Cognito kits the leaf spring stack is just getting a spacer block and new u-bolts so you'll be able to install the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-HD. This just clamps to one leaf spring eyelet and the other side will clamp to the other side of the leaf spring stack. This style of suspension enhancement will help support any loads you have to haul without majorly affecting your unloaded ride quality like other enhancements...

  • Can Leaf be Added to Trailer Suspension Slipper Spring
  • Hey Sammy, it sounds like you are asking if you could add a leaf to the slipper spring that you have now which there isn't a way to do that. If you aren't happy with your current leaf springs only solution would be to replace them with something like the part # e39SR.

  • Is There a Way to Lift a 16' Gooseneck Trailer To Sit Higher For a New Truck?
  • I have a couple options you can look at first but without knowing exactly what suspension you have I can not say what will work. First if you have double eye leaf springs we do have the Tandem Axle Lift Kit # RR23QX which allows you to raise the trailer 1-1/4" or 2-1/4". These bolt to the spring hangers but again they are only for trailers with double eye leaf springs. Another option would be an axle flip kit to place the axle below the leaf springs if it currently mounts on top of the...

  • Can Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit replace MORryde LRE Suspension Kit
  • Hey Robert! Yes, the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers # RM-2460-2570 can be used to replace the MORryde LRE suspension kit you currently have on your 2006 Keystone Montana. Just verify your axles have a 3" diameter and have a wheelbase (center hub to center hub) of 35" for this to physically fit with where your hangers are currently installed.

  • SumoSpring Suspension Enhancement Kit for 2016 Winnebago View
  • Hey Ida, for your 2016 Mercedes Sprinter Winnebago View that has a dually setup we have great suspension enhancement options that fit like the SumoSprings part # SSR-338-54 but none of the leaf spring style options we carry fit the dually models. The SumoSprings give a progressive spring solution that gives more support the further the suspension is compressed so it would work great for you.

  • Can 5,000 lb Leaf Spring be Used on 3,500 lb Axle
  • Yes, if you'd like you can use the 30" Long 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles # UG34FR on your 3,500 lb axle. Your trailer will ride stiffer but it is certainly something you can do if you desire.

  • Replacement U-Bolt Kit, Suspension Bolts, and Leaf Springs for a 2007 Haulmark TS6X12DS2 Trailer
  • You'll need the CE Smith U-Bolt Kit # CE23002, 9/16" Bolts like part # 126B2 and then one of the following leaf spring sizes: - 23-1/8" Long # e59SR - 25-1/8" Long # e68SR - 27" Long # e97SR To get the correct leaf spring length you just need to lift the weight off of your leaf springs and measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the other bolt hole and then choose whichever spring best matches what you currently have.

  • Replacing Leaf Springs And U-Bolts On A 2021 Grand Design 31MB
  • The 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e34SR will be a good replacement for your 2021 Grand Design 31MB, provided the stock leaf spring is also 25-1/4" long. The suspension is all designed based on a specific length of spring, so it is critical that the replacement springs are identical in size to the stock springs. A 5-leaf 6,000 rated spring will definitely give you more support than the 4-leaf 5,200 lb springs. It is possible that you will need longer U-bolts, but it really depends on how...

  • Replacement Leaf Springs and Wet Bolt Kit For a 2007 Fleetwood Redline 33 Toyhauler
  • First, thank you so much for providing all the axle information on your 2007 Fleetwood Redline 33. The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e47SR is our closest match to the Lippert 702096 leaf springs that came on your trailer. You will want to order 4 of these springs and I have included a list of the different wet bolt kits below depending on the length of your current shackles. Unfortunately this is not information I can get from Lippert as it would have been Fleetwood who installed the shackles...

  • Replacing The Suspension On A 2006 Forest River Work And Play Enclosed Trailer
  • Hi Craig, When it comes to leaf spring suspensions the best practice is to measure the sizes of the components the manufacturer originally installed and replacing with same size components. If you start replacing items with different sizes then it throws everything else off and lead to a bind up. Replacing the leaf springs with a higher capacity is definitely doable and we also offer kits for flipping the axle for increased ride height (2-3/8" axles # K71-384-00 or 3" axles # K71-385-00)....

  • Is Leaf Spring Enhancement Worth it With 2018 Ford F-150 WIth Timbrens
  • Hey there Steve; thanks for writing in and when it comes to body roll and sway for your 2018 Ford F-150, the better option is the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit, with the right one depending on if your F-150 is 2WD or 4WD: - 2WD: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-B - 4WD: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y Honestly, I would go with these over the Timbrens # TFR1504E, and frankly not even both...

  • Lift Kit Options For A 2015 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1706FB
  • Hi Bruce, To lift your trailer we'll first need to check of the suspension and see if you have torsion axles or a leaf spring suspension. If you have torsion axles then I'll need to see the axle tag in order to determine what you have so I can pick out the correct kit. If you have a leaf spring suspension then you'll just need to check if the leaf springs sit below the axle (underslung) and measure the diameter of the axle. If they are underslung then you'll need the Dexter Trailer Springs...

  • Can Heavier Duty Leaf Springs Be Installed on a 2021 Coachmen Catalina Travel Trailer
  • Hi James, You can swap out the leaf springs to help reduce wear but you'll most likely notice a little bit stiffer of a ride, but not enough to really matter. To find the correct replacement you'll first need to measure the leaf spring so that we can find a compatible replacement. I've attached two diagrams below to show you how measure your leaf springs. Once you have the measurements let me know and I'd be happy to look for a replacement. Another option to help support your suspension...

  • Replacement Leaf Spring for a 2011 Forest River Rockwood 1940LTD
  • Thanks for the picture and the measurement! If you measured your suspension with the trailer sitting on the ground the springs have stretched with the years of use and won't be 28" long. You're probably going to be closer to 27" which means you'll need the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles item # e97SR or even 26" which you'd replace with the item # e77SR. To get an accurate measurement of the eye to eye distance you will want to jack up one side of your Rockwood trailer...
